Mission to China: To Pick up “Grace”

Posted on October 30, 2011

SamHenry’s brother and her sister-in-law and two of their 4 children are now in China.  Their mission:  pick up and welcome “Grace” into our family.  She is an older child and has a mild case of Cerebral Palsy.

When Grace was found, she was about 2 years old and had been abandoned at the side of the road.  She could not talk or walk.  Four years later and the orphanage has helped her to walk and to talk and it is a good thing because Grace loves to be on the move and to interact with people.  Even in the videos of her she exudes a strong, determined and friendly  personality and also a a remarkable state of motor skills and perception.

Well as of 6 hours ago, it was lunch-time over there.  Here is a picture of Anna, their other adopted daughter from China.  Because my brother and sister-in-law are older, they have a back-up guardian in  my sister-in-law’s son from a previous marriage (pictured at table next to her).  He has been on every trip to China and Anna just loves him.

Anna is very excited to have a sister.  She should be a great help in making Grace feel comfortable.  It is like Christmas waiting for Grace.

Nanjing Zoo.  This could be a picture of SamHenry after the 29 hour trip it took my brother’s family to arrive at this zoo.
