Why I Cannot Accept the Versatile Bloggers Award

Posted on September 26, 2011

My dear friend Loopyloo305 has honored me by nominating this blog for the Versatile Bloggers Award.

11) and the nominee is

ON MY WATCH – the writings of SamHenry

Sam Henry knows that life is precious and that it must be savored, she has a wry sense of humor and loves people. Plus she is one excellent writer!

I was deeply touched and honored by her nomination and by her praise.  Then I read how to qualify for the award.  I need to complete the following:

“The Most Versatile Blogger Award.  Are you curious as to what this is and how you receive it?  If you have been nominated by someone and you claim this award by displaying it on your blog, you must meet certain criteria.  Here is the list.

  1. You must give credit to the person that has nominated you and create a link to their blog in your post. [No problem. Easy.]
  2. You must create a list of 15 blogs that you enjoy most and link to those as well. Then you must go and tell them you have nominated them.  That means if you do not have 15, you cannot do this step.  If you do not complete this step, then you cannot claim this award.  [This is not something I can do – see below.]
  3. Finally, you must create a list of seven things about yourself.  [SamHenry is very apt to go overboard on these kinds of things and to become a bore and a  nuisance – perhaps one and two out of seven.  She might even turn it into a bad poem – egad, number three.  See, I talk too much and give too much away.  I am much better sitting in my wing chair doing my needlepoint rather than typing and thinking about how next to stay out of trouble – there seven things – whew – but are they the right things?  How about 1a….]

I cannot in good conscience compete in this arena because my blogroll is filled with many more than 15 good blogs.  The updated blogroll is on a tab above and copied on the right hand margin of this blog.  These are my destinations.  These are places where I have found many opinions widely divergent from my own but nevertheless where I have been respectfully heard and made a friend.  Thank you, LL, for reminding me of the importance of a blogroll and that it is a growing, living thing.
