This is not a formal poll; this is not an official anything. This is just a report of conversations with friends and relatives about the election. For the most part, I am on the receiving end of a quick comment. People in my range are expressing their dissatisfaction with the two top candidates.
I have talked with bloggers who are not really fired up to blog about it. There is a malaise in the US. We are all waiting for the other shoe to drop. Neither candidate seems to be the answer to our problems. And candidates mentioned as being in the wings for possible revolt at a convention are in not any more popular. Face it, we are very divided and if this keeps up. this house will not stand.
Then to read that riots are expected surrounding either the conventions or the election in November takes this whole thing to another level of unreality. This cannot be the United States. We are all stunned, shell-shocked and in horror. The big subject of this election is not what the candidates have or have not achieved or that they want in the future. The big story is the American public and their lack of enthusiasm for this fight.

I think conservatives, tea partiers, libertarians, and just small-government types of all political persuasions ARE fired up. While Romney isn’t setting anyone on fire, the thought of four more years of Obama certainly is. The malaise (as evident in Obama’s fundraising) is with the Democrats. I honestly do not believe this election will be as close as people predict.

With Paul Ryan on the ticket as VP, I’m fired up. It shows that RINO Romney realized that BHO has screwed up so badly that the only way to save the country is to govern as a conservative. Perhaps he’ll appoint Palin as Secretary of Energy. He doesn’t like her, but it is her undisputed area of expertise. Give the world cheaper energy instead of the is Green Energy BS to enrich BHO’s cronies, and the global economy will recover.

Let’s see SH. Your post is dated 8/7, which was five days ago. A lot has changed since then. Thus, if folks aren’t fired up yet, they will never be.
Speaking for myself, however, with Paul Ryan now on the ticket, heck yes! I am fired up.

If the thought of four more years of Obama doesn’t fire up a Conservative then nothing ever will. I’m fighting for America on my blogs and not any one particular candidate. I will support and promote Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan with all that I am because the alternative is the Death of America as we have known her and as Ronald Reagan said: A Thousand Years of Darkness.

The problem is that RINO Romney has long been a member of the Viagra wing of the Republican party. Conservatives need to be wary of the probability that a Romney presidency will simply be Obama 2.0, but inevitably more competent. The selection of Ryan for VP encourages one to believe that perhaps Romney has grown up and grown a brain (and may be a pair of testicles?). However; Romney’s unrelenting hostility towards not just Governor Palin but the entire Tea Party movement provokes suspicion.

Friends – I have been in a great deal of pain and am headed for hip replacement surgery within the next one to two months. That may color my enthusiasm – certainly it limits the time I can expend on getting the word out.
I fault myself and all others of an independent stripe for not putting their money where their mouths/interests have been and found another alternative or party. Extremists have destroyed the tea party and the Democrats have buried it in the press.
Mitt Romney is a liar, an opportunist and a closet wimp. I have not studied Ryan’s record. Romney is so close to Obama on so much it is not a contest. Corporate America has chosen well its two candidates. They will win either way. We are on the way to world government and loss of the America we knew and of a dozen other countries we knew. We cannot stop this at this point.
I am sorry you will have to fight on without me. I hope we remain friends. I envy your fervor and fortitude. Bon chance mes amis.

I am sorry to hear you feel this way SamHenry. I hope all goes well for you regarding the Hip Replacement surgery. Thank God your having it done before Obamacare goes into full affect. Your voice in this struggle will be missed and I will always appreciate all you have done for our common cause.

Sorry to hear about your upcoming hip replacement surgery. They have developed the procedure to the point that most people are up and walking the same day. I pray that your experience will go as well.
Your analysis of the absence of a contest between Obama and Romney is right on. Both want a bigger, more powerful government that can use it’s control over an increasingly larger portion of the economy to bestow opportunities to special interests who have the right political connections. Adolf Hitler would be proud of their commitment to nominally private corporations who are subservient to an all powerful state. Perhaps the only difference between Romney and Obama is Obama’s commitment to wealth redistribution as racial retribution.
However; your claim that the TeaParty has been “destroyed by extremists” mystifies me. I recall going to the earliest rallies and being concerned by the presence of racists, anarchists, communists and Facists. The TeaParty has since coalesced into an interest group focused almost entirely on fiscal conservatism. Tangential issues such as gay marriage, gun control and abortion have been very deliberately excluded from the TeaPaties rhetoric even though the views of most members are predictable. If you understand anything about sociobiology, you would understand that social conservatism is a fundamental prerequisite of fiscal conservatism. As Europe is now demonstrating, especially Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, any society that devotes itself to fornication rather than procreation will inevitably suffer an economic collapse as it undergoes a demographic implosion. Most people refuse to understand this last point.
Since it is apparent that the Republican establishment will not oppose Obama’s socialist agenda and that the TeaParty has been marginalized as extremist even though it has remained focused solely on fiscal issues, those of us who wish to survive will be finding new, far less moderate organizations to safeguard our interests.

JC – I am sorry to hear that conservatives such as yourself will seek a less moderate vehicle than the tea party. This has been the hallmark of this election. I could no possibly blog past this issue or do anything to change the forces at work now. As in Egypt, the winds of change are blowing and the division is fueling them.
I hope that moderation will return to its proper place. That in the end, it will be the safe haven for all negotiation from both sides or rather all sides. Were I to become less moderate, it would do nothing to further my cause of fiscal conservatism. I think in the end we have different means to the same end. I do not want to get caught up in the feverishness of this election that will lead to civil unrest. I hope to keep tracking things and work with those willing to establish some kind of groundwork for reconciliation.

SamHenry,
Moderation is indeed a good thing unless you are confronted with profound evil. President Obama had carefully cultivated a facade of moderate progressivism. Remember when Barack’s culturally conservative criticism of mature, financially successful, Black males impregnating teenaged girls provoked Jesse Jackson to threaten to “cut his nuts off?”. Now Obama’s economic policies are becoming recognizable for what they truly are, wealth redistribution as racial retribution. Barack’s rhetoric is becoming indestinguishable from that of the Nationa Black Foot Soldiers Network who honor the perpetrators of brutal, interracial murders. Google them. Peruse their nauseating site. Google some names so that you will have a full understanding of the true horror of their agenda.
Go to this website here:
http://www.ojjdp.gov/ojstatbb/ezashr/asp/off_selection.asp
Use the very powerful on line tool to access the FBI’s Supplementary Homicide Reports Database. Check out the total number of Blacks who are murderred by Whites verses Whites who are murdered by Blacks to get a fuller understanding than is provided by the sanitized, single victim, single assailant statistics that are publicized by the FBI.
Think about Attorney General Eric Holder’s vacating the conviction of New Black Panther Party members for voter intimidation. Think about Holder’s refusal to prosecute the New Black Panther Party for posting a bounty on George Zimmerman, dead or alive. Think about the incrediably blatant abuse of power inherent in REPUBLICAN officials yielding to the threats of Benjamin Crump by bypassing the grand jury and appointing a special prosecutor. Think about the blatantly abusive persecution of George Zimmerman that even famous liberal, legal scholars such as Allan Dershowitz have recognized as reprehensible. Think about the fact that just as the New Black Panthers are threatening to riot in protest of the Republican National Convention, Vice President Joe Biden is inciting racial violence by claiming that Republicans will “put them back in chains.” Think about the fact that so many Federal agencies who have no legitimate law enforcement function are buying hundreds of millions of rounds of hollow point ammunition that the military is prohibited from using because it is too lethal.
I have no idea of what your religious beliefs are, but go read theBook of Esther in the Bible. See what Esther won for her people with that lap dance for King Xeres. If Mordeci had been moderate. The Jews would have become extinct in 500 BC.

SamHenry!!!
I don’t visit you often, but I am aware and consider your opinions to great deal.
That being said, now listen to my part!
As much as Romney is not my first choice or the second, or the xxxth…
I must say this:
Romney is what we have!!!
Him being a governor of a blue State says a lot!!!!
I am judging by personal experiences…
..dating back….many years…
and one handles a situation with appropriate action…
I am not going to give you my whole personal/family history here, but I become the driving force of my parents estate ever since my Father died and there was not a single adult to take care of my Mother and the estate…
and guess what?
I did find out I have the right to recall the testament of my Father and make some new decisions …
yes, it is a personal analogy to what America is facing now days…
Romney calling Ryan as his VP in my humble opinion is GREAT!!!!!
Ryan is young and many young people will associate with his drive for fixing this madness..
I really do not care how young people are spoiled rotten, but I do know one thing:
they grew up with their parents providing everything, don’t you think they would like the same ?..including the basement?!
I do believe the election will be an utter VICTORY against obama…
there are droves loaded with people not stating their preference in the open…
but a private voting booth is a whole another story!!!
Romney and Ryan are the only choice for now!!!!!
anything else will ensure obama’s next 4 years!!!!!

@ Roo: Thank you for the update and the visit as well as info on how these kinds of operations turn out. I am in a great deal of pain. I also have developed an attendant concern – I blank out and hit the floor. I cannot drive until we get to the bottom of this. Money is flying out the door for assistance even though social services does provide meals on wheels, etc. I’m trying to be brave but cowardice is in my DNA.
All of the above said, I pride myself I dragged myself through Britain when I was probably meant to stay home in bed.
