I think that’s a rotten thing to do to your kids! Rent a toy and then they have to give it back? Kids don’t appreciate “Indian-givers” on any level, especially when it’s parents.

A couple years ago things were so bad, I made some sock toys for my kids for under the tree so they’d at least have something. In a tight financial pinch, parents can look around and get creative with stuff too. A kids’ imagination doesn’t require a big spending spree.
