In a guest piece on the CNN website, David Frum speaks to the allure of Palin for the press over against a man he sees as the more qualified candidate for the presidency and the one supposedly out front, George Romney. But many have had their fill of the plastic, robot-like man waiting confidently in the wings.
Palin is “mezmerizing.” She is just a natural with the media – it goes beyond savvy. But many have had their fill of her almost child-like behavior when it comes to keeping the world guessing what her next move will be or what her status will be when she gets there. She is like the Cheshire cat. Suddenly she materializes on the back of a Harley, then she is on a bus touring the US with a route unpublished no doubt for security reasons. And she can be kind of giddy and sparkley in a gushing immature fashion. Then again she appears smile in place at another book signing. Now she has had more and more air time on FOX to add to her resume.
Somewhere between Romney and Palin there is some kind of serious candidate that is missing – the one the independent voter is waiting for. That person will have the credentials in government of a Romney without some of the liberal health care trappings; will have the charisma of Palin and Obama nailed down but be stronger in character and integrity than any candidate so far. And that does not include any Republican now contemplating or having declared.
Could it be the esteemed governor of New Jersey who even now is being besieged by politicos begging him to run? Or could it be someone we have not yet even thought of? Whichever it is – Governor Christy or Candidate Not Yet Thought Of, SamHenry’s money is on either. We need a fresh assault on Obama and his machine. That is what it will take in the end to overcome a group that can turn on a dime and out flank the media and the opposition – or so they think. First get that database at Republican National Headquarters revved up and then beat the bushes for a new candidate for a new day.

I will say this. I got letters w/request for donations from Mitt & Pawlenty, asking that I donate to their presidential campaign. I got it in my home mail box. I dont know how Mitt & Pawlenty got my home address & dont appreciate them asking for it.

I feel as you do. I am sure they get the info from Republican headquarters??? Perhaps street directories.

A new candidate for a new day. AMEN! That is exactly what is needed now to defeat BO. The SOS won’t work any longer. Why does the GOP not get it? They are going to run the SOS and lose the election in 2012. Is there anyone in the GOP who understands times have changed and a new message is needed? I just read an article yesterday about how the Dems are counting on the youth vote again. Where is the GOP on this? They are playing to a horse that is dead! You’d think the GOP would have some sense of urgency but thus far I see none. Romney? Where has he been for the past 3 years? Why has he not been outspoken on BO? Palin? Who knows what she’s doing running to and fro riding motorcycles. We MUST NOT allow the media to pick our candidates because they pick star material. We don’t want a star. We want a Constitutional LEADER. Save the stars for Hollywood!

My dear Lorinov – sorry for the late reply. Perhaps we need to have a Republican dancing with the stars and then eliminate that way. We don’t seem to have any better way of doing it. It is really bad when Republicans are hoping for a Deus ex machina to drop down and save the day. First, what do we want? Let’s work up a resume!

Hmmm…a Republican Dancing with the Stars? Do you think they can get the press coverage daily like the program now does? What do we want?
I want a candidate who:
–Knows, understands, and has read more than once our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
–I want a candidate who clearly supports our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
–One who supports America FIRST!
–One who will create Jobs and has some concrete ideas for fixing our economy.
–One who understands he/she is an elected official answerable to the people and who does not think themselves to be a banana republic dictator or the reincarnation of Pol Pot.
–One whose past is not a mystery such as the mystery we have in the WH today!
–One who will correct Obama’s fiascos like Obamacare, et al.
–One who doesn’t cry on cue as our Crier of the House presently does.
–One who projects the image of a strong and determined leader and not a hand wringer weakling.
That should be good for starters
