If you are fortunate enough to work for a really good “work from home” company then it can be like living among the Angels. When I take assignments, I meet the most amazing supervisors and co-workers I have ever had.
Today, I met a young man in the southern states who is only 30 and has MS. In our same training session of only about 9 people, we had a woman of about 50 who also had MS. Both had aggressive forms of the disease. They were wonderful – we all were wonderful as 9 people instantly bonded.
We are good at customer service so you could say it’s no surprise that we have sensitivity to the needs of others that make joyous moments of discovery like these possible. It was like being part of a miracle when these two people discovered their shared burden and our care for both. Only in Cyberspace could two former Ohioans now suffering from the same disease hook up today at 3:00 PM EST.
This kind of work makes for different experiences and some bad accidents like the time a colleague forgot to press the mute button and…. It’s nice having a supervisor in Kansas, tech people in India (we have a great group there) and coworkers from all over the US and Canada.
Happily the number of reliable companies hiring work from home employees is growing. It is a wonderful opportunity for people who are housebound for ANY reason or for people who just want to stay home. Cyberspace is a great place to be when you are in good surroundings with good people – like all the individuals who make this little blog thrive.
Let us hope for all the people it could benefit that work from home continues to grow as an alternative for employment.

Working from home is a wonderful option that I wish more companies utilized. I believe they could get more done if they’d let people work from home. All that time spent commuting, getting ready for work, and all that, could be portioned off toward work instead.
I’m so glad you’ve found people you like so much.
But then, you’re a sweetie who seems to like most people. You’re like Will Rogers that way.
Heck, you even like me!

Marvelous SH. I am happy for you.
Living in NYC, traveling is a nightmare. It takes me a bus and two trains with a commute time of 90 minutes on a good day to get to Manhattan from home. On a not so good day, you can almost double that. On a normal day 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
Everyone in New York is looking to work from home.
It is indeed a small world. I have someone very close to me who has MS as well.
Hope all works out.

BD – Your commute is a form of torture. But you probably clear better money than I do doing it. I will let you know I need your prayer skills so I get good marks on the tests I will have to take on customer service and policies and procedures and forms, etc. I have survived the technical difficulties. It is a lot of info coming at you in a short period of time but they do everything they can to make it possible for you to pass. I am now working for a supervisor in Kansas who is a lovely woman. She is mother of us all! She is so clear about the instructions and kind about everything that it lowers your anxiety by 100%. Break over -back to the grind. Good to see you. Sorry you have a friend with MS – it is a terrible disease as you know. The sun is out here – cold – but the sun brings promise….

Hi, SH. Glad to hear it’s going well. Warm weather’ll be here before you know it–pitchers and catchers report for spring training next week.

Well you know when I was young in the late 50s, we lived in Ft. Lauderdale for my Dad’s health. The Yankees used to winter there. Whitey Ford was in his heyday. My brothers and I all got bobble heads. Mine is now going for $200 on eBay but I gave it to the guy who does my taxes and charges me next to nothing for it. I will be driving to the poor house in a new car with lots of friends LOL. The bobble head had no individual look. It was one of the originals.

Good to hear your positive experience of home working – I’ve done home, office and out-and-about working. Looking back I think the latter was the most fun.
But whichever option, getting enough unstressed sleep is important – the lack of it makes strokes and heart disease 50% more likely apparently (or was it twice as likely – can’t remember – bad anyway). I should declare that I read it in the same mainstream (non-red top) UK newspaper that warned you could catch bubonic plague from your pet.

My pet has mange. Probably from the local fox the “chase” or “hunt” as we say here makes them seek refuge in the village. One day a couple of years ago they follow the fox into the village – it was so funny. They were very near my back yard. Just this week I thanked the husband of the co-”mistress” for chasing the fox here and for Imp’s mange. Bubonic plague – well, a Jack Russell could give me that since they do chase rats to ground. There is so much from which you can die. Point is, we have to die from something. We all go around as if we can fly in the face of it somehow. Unless you are in a riot or a battle, these days it hardly touches us. I get sad over road kill. I saw that same report about sleep. Thanks for trying to save me, Roo. I promise I will clean up and begin to use my sleep machine again. However, I will then get over 10 hours sleep and that they say can kill you as well. This is why there is chocolate in the world.
