The Chinese government long interested in control of the internet in country has limited information from that source about the uprising in Egypt. It has removed “Egypt” as a search term in at a website similar to Twitter and has made information about the turmoil unsearchable. [CBS News]
In published articles, only scant bits of information about the uprising have been allowed. It does not need to feed the democratic aspiration of its people made evident in Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Hopefully this chaos will recede to the point to which more level heads will preside.
It is my belief that some countries need a dictator.
There is such a thing as a benevolent dictator, however that concept is not how the American Experiment was designed to be.
The American Experiment as set up by our Founding Fathers has been wildly successful, even in the face of relentless attempts by the progressive left for over 100 years to eliminate the will of the People.
Jefferson was right in stating that the People will get it wrong, but eventually they will get it right.
We are within that transition of getting it right.
The longer the transition continues, the better chance We the People have to resurrect the Founder’s vision for this country.
The Shining Light on the Hill has not been distinguished yet.
We the People cannot allow Obama to regulate our country into a third world nation.

I totally agree with you AFVET that some countries just cannot function without a dictator and Russia and many South American countries are good examples. When a people have been conditioned to live under dictatorship, it is a difficult transition for them.
I believe that the militant Islamists will not prevail in Egypt but we will see. Good to see you here per usual.

Hi SH & AFVET. The problem with benevolent dictators is their successors. Ancient Rome provides many an example of this truth.

It’s a sad reality of the human condition, Bob. I’m very tired this evening. I have been so distressed over the Egyptian situation that I feel I must have been in the streets all day.

Distressing indeed. Will be interesting to see what capital various factions make out of the uprising.

In some ways I envy China. It must be so nice to pretend that things simply no longer exist. “We’re deleting Egypt! Nothing to see here, move along!”
Yeah, and denial is a river in … um … that deleted place.
