With all of the shuffling and shifting and ahems since news broke yesterday that Bill Clinton allegedly asked Meeks to drop out of the race for the US Senate from Florida, one thing has been overlooked.
Last week President Obama was campaigning with Meeks. That is the kiss of death in any event. No one needed to have spoken to Meek. That said, the entire episode concocted by some swell “fictionistas” somewhere tarnished Big Bad Bill Clinton a bit and grazed the Prez in the ear, no doubt. Now that Governor Christ, the man responsible for the three-way race down there to begin with, had been declared the one who talked to Meeks, it looks as if Meeks himself is coming out of this a winner even if he looses. He has handled the entire incident laudably and he has had a rare opportunity to be seen in the national spotlight. He is a very impressive young Congressman – for a Democrat!
Watch the polls and we’ll see if all of this maneuvering has been worth it.

Morning SH
I think somebody (ies) connected w/WH did speak w/Meek considering Crist was far head & promised 2 caucus w/dem.
Actually Meek was back stabbed in this situation.
Having said all this may be mute because Florida’s early voting started Oct 18 & so far it’s been reported that half the florida voters have already early voted. Meaning that these early votes helped Crist more than it did Meek; but boosted Rubio who undoubtedly will win.
If this all goes down w/Meek losing (which he will lose), I suspect black floridians will be highly pissed & they will blame Obama. There’s already been video threats by Meek’s supporter that blacks will abandon Obama over this Meek dust up.
Damage 2 Obama may be somewhat minimized if Meek does not come in 3rd place.

I think that Meek’s supporters have been pissed long before this. Until the debate, he was not really seen that much. The debate finally brought him to the fore. He is one talented young man and will go far. He handled this just right. I hope he switches parties! He may after this.
It will be just deserts for Christ to come in dead last. He is a slime bag of the first order – the kind of politician you used to see in Florida in the ’50s when I lived there. And believe it, central Florida is still very much old south and the blacks there will not take this sitting down. By the way, black author Zora Neal Hurston (“Their Eyes Were Watching God”) was from central Florida.

You are no doubt right about the early vote, Arlene. I had not thought of that. Those early votes will, however, probably be recounted. There has been a lot of hanky panky going down with early votes nation-wide. I think that absentee ballots should be for the infirm and those who can prove they will be absent.
I do not count out the WH having acted through Chist or whoever did this. You have to give it to Meek for going up against SOBama.
Rubino will win hands down. The central Florida sugar cane kings will make certain of that.

Also during this election cycle, losers of the race are becoming very vindictive & bitter. Just imagine if Meek come in 3rd place. Imagine what his supporters will do. Ooooooo boyyyyy!
